LAHORE:
Anticipating the arrival of 30,000 Sikh pilgrims, including 3,000 from India, between April 10-19 for the Vaisakhi festival, the home department has made preparations for security and uninterrupted power supply at all gurdwaras.
Police and Rangers will jointly monitor pilgrim movements, while intelligence committees at divisional and district levels will oversee threat assessments.
“Strict protocols are in place: no pilgrim may deviate from designated routes or accommodations without authorisation,” a spokesperson said.
Control rooms linked to a central command will operate in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and other key districts.
Additional measures include combing operations near gurdwaras and removal of encroachments.
