RAWALPINDI:
Five terrorists were neutralised and two arrested in three separate operations in three tribal districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the military said in a statement on Saturday.
“An intelligence-based operation was conducted by security forces in Bajaur district,” the military’s media wing, the ISPR, said in the statement.
“During the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location and after an intense fire exchange, three khwarij, including HVT [high-value target] Kharji Fareed Ullah, were sent to hell,” it added.
The military uses the term khwarij for terrorists affiliated with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The government has also designated them as such.
“Another intelligence-based operation was conducted in general area Dossali, North Waziristan district,” the ISPR stated. “Two khwarij were neutralised by the security forces” in the raid.
A terrorist hideout was busted in the third operation in Mohmand district, the ISPR said, adding that “two khwarij, including HVT kharji Lal Ameer, aka Ibrahim” were apprehended in the raid. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from these khwarij, who remained involved in multiple terrorist activities, the military statement added.
“Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other kharji found in the area,” the ISPR stated, adding that “the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.”
