Faheem Ashraf, Quetta Gladiators’ all-rounder, remains determined to maintain consistency in the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season and has set his sights on delivering similar performances for the national team.
In a recent interview, Faheem spoke about his move to a new franchise for HBL PSL 10, highlighting that while the team has changed, his approach has not.
“This time it’s a new team, but my mindset remains the same — I aim to perform like before, help my team win matches, and take them to the final. Performing in the league is great, but the ultimate goal is to deliver the same for Pakistan,” the 31-year-old said.
The right-arm pacer, formerly with Islamabad United, underlined the league’s significance in shaping the careers of local players.
“PSL is the biggest brand in Pakistan and a globally recognised league. It has not only uplifted players financially but also elevated their careers. Though the excitement seems slightly down this season, senior players are stepping up to reignite the spark and capture fans’ attention,” he added.
Discussing the evolving nature of T20 cricket, Faheem acknowledged the challenges bowlers face and admitted his growing interest in contributing with the bat.
“T20 cricket is tough on bowlers, so I enjoy batting more these days. High scores aren’t just an IPL thing — our players are equally explosive. In the PSL, every team is strong, and the real competition only reveals itself midway through the tournament,” he said.
Quetta Gladiators began their PSL 10 campaign with a win over Peshawar Zalmi, defending a 217-run total and bowling out Babar Azam’s side for 136 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
However, their momentum dipped in the second fixture against Lahore Qalandars, where Shaheen Afridi’s team posted 220 runs and dismissed Quetta for 140.
The Gladiators will next face Karachi Kings at the National Bank Stadium on April 18 in their third match of the tournament.
