Endemic sexual violence targeting young girls shows growing perversion and frustration in society.
In the latest disturbing incident, a five-year-old girl was murdered after being subjected to sexual abuse in Liaquatabad. The body of the girl, who went missing from Sikandar Goth, was found dumped in Gujjar Nullah on Wednesday. According to police, a missing report had been filed at Sachal police station a day earlier.
Police Surgeon Dr Samia Tariq confirmed that the postmortem examination revealed signs of sexual abuse. Forensic samples have been collected and sent for chemical analysis, with details expected upon receipt of the reports.
The girl’s father stated that his daughter’s body was discovered with her hands and feet tied. He expressed anguish over the delayed search efforts, claiming that timely action could have saved her life. The family, who deny any personal enmity, demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators. Police have launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage from Sikandar Goth to identify suspects. The girl’s family and relatives blocked Abul Hassan Isphahani Road near Paradise Apartment in protest, causing traffic disruptions. They alleged that some of her body parts were missing.
Meanwhile, unverified reports suggest that CCTV footage shows a woman leading the child away. Police are verifying these claims and have assured the family of a thorough investigation.
In a separate incident, a 17-year-old girl was abducted and allegedly gang-raped in the Malir City area. Police have registered a case against Faizan, a school student, and three unidentified accomplices.
According to the victim’s father, the incident occurred on April 14 when his daughter was taken at gunpoint near the main gate of Laila Town. The accused allegedly drugged and assaulted the girl before abandoning her. She returned home via an online taxi at 10pm and narrated the ordeal.
Police registered the case under Sections 376 (rape) and 342/34 (wrongful confinement) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
