Green Day earns Walk of Fame star with Serena Williams and Ryan Reynolds set to speak at ceremony

Green Day will officially receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 1, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. PT, adding another milestone to their legendary career.

The punk rock icons—Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool—will be honored in a public ceremony at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, fittingly located next to the iconic Amoeba Music.

Tennis icon Serena Williams and actor Ryan Reynolds are scheduled to speak at the event, with music journalist and TV personality Matt Pinfield serving as emcee. The ceremony will also be streamed live on the Walk of Fame website for fans worldwide.

Formed in 1986 in Berkeley, California, Green Day has influenced generations with their powerful music and rebellious spirit. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 and has won five Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year for “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” in 2006.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the Walk of Fame, noted Green Day’s lasting cultural impact. “Green Day’s music has not only inspired generations but also served as the soundtrack to our lives,” said Ana Martinez, the Walk of Fame’s producer.

With 12 top 10 albums and two Billboard Hot 100 hits, Green Day’s career remains strong, recently headlining both Saturday nights at Coachella 2025 for over 200,000 fans.

The May 1 event marks the 2,810th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and celebrates nearly four decades of Green Day’s influence on music and pop culture.
