President Asif Ali Zardari is showing signs of recovery, according to his physician Dr Asim Hussain, local media reported on Friday. The president, who tested positive for Covid-19 on April 2, is currently being treated at a private hospital in Karachi.

Hussain confirmed that a recent rapid test for Covid-19 returned negative, but President Zardari continues to be monitored by infectious disease specialists. “He is undergoing physiotherapy and will likely remain hospitalised for a few more days,” said the doctor.

Medical experts from the hospital’s infectious diseases department are examining the president three times a day, he said, adding, doctors have restricted all visitations as a precautionary measure.

The president’s family is receiving regular health updates, and recent blood test reports have shown promising results, Dr Asim noted.

Zardari was initially in Nawabshah but was later shifted to Karachi for better medical care — a move his physician described as timely and beneficial. The president remains under close observation, with health officials continuing to monitor his condition as part of a cautious recovery process.
