Riot Fest 2025 announces headliners for 20th anniversary edition

Riot Fest’s 20th anniversary lineup has been revealed, with Green Day, Blink-182, Weezer, and Jack White headlining the festival in Chicago this September.

The festival will take place at Douglass Park, continuing the event’s long-running tradition. The nostalgic lineup also includes the Sex Pistols, who will perform during their first tour in two decades, and the return of The Beach Boys to Chicago.

Other notable acts on the 2025 lineup include Chicago’s own Dehd, Dropkick Murphys, The Linda Lindas, All Time Low, Hanson, Rico Nasty, The Front Bottoms, Cobra Starship, and Alkaline Trio. The three-day festival will be held from September 19 to 21, and tickets for the event went on sale Wednesday, with three-day passes starting at $299.98.

Riot Fest founder, “Riot Mike” Petryshyn, reflected on the festival’s growth, saying, “We didn’t plan on making it for 20 years. We planned on making it through one weekend. But here we are – still loud, still weird, still building something bigger than we ever meant to.”

The announcement follows the recent decision by the Chicago Park District to grant Riot Fest a three-year contract to continue in Douglass Park. The deal is expected to bring in over $3 million to the district, though it has faced criticism from some local residents who have raised concerns over noise, traffic, and waste associated with the event. District officials have addressed these issues, noting the numerous meetings held with community stakeholders.

Riot Fest remains a major summer event in Chicago, especially following the exit of Pitchfork Festival, which closed permanently after 19 years. The festival, which started in 2005, has grown from its early days at the Congress Theater to its current home at Douglass Park.
