Security Forces killed nine terrorists, including a high-value target (HVT) during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in a press release on Monday.
The media wing of the military identified the high-value target as terrorists’ ring leader Shireen, who was involved in numerous terrorist activities, including the target killing of several civilians as well as the martyrdom of Captain Hasnain Akhtar on March 20.
The ISPR said that the IBO was conducted by the security forces in the general area of Takwara in the night between Sunday and Monday on the reported presence of khwarij – a term used for the terrorists belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
“During conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location and after an intense fire exchange, nine khwarij including HVT, Kharji Ring leader Shireen were sent to hell. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed khwarij,” the press release stated.
“Kharji Ring leader Shireen was highly wanted by the Law Enforcement Agencies due to his involvement in numerous terrorist activities, and besides being involved in target killing of numerous innocent civilians, was also responsible for Shahadat of Captain Hasnain Akhtar, Shaheed on 20 March 2025,” it said.
“Today’s operation has avenged the heinous act and has brought the main perpetrator to justice,” the ISPR added. It said that sanitisation operation was being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area, as the security forces were determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.
President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the valour of the security forces and eliminating nine terrorists, including a high-value target, in a successful operation in the District Dera Ismail Khan district.
The president said that killing the leader of terrorists was a major success of the security forces. According to a press release issued by the President Secretariat Press Wing, Zardari reiterated that operations carried out by the security forces would continue till complete elimination of the terrorists.
The president observed that Pakistan’s security forces were conducting successful operations to eradicate terrorism which was commendable. He added that their resolve for complete elimination of terrorist elements and the defence of country would remain unwavering.
The prime minister also appreciated the successful operation against the terrorists. “The entire nation stands firmly with the security forces in the fight against terrorism,” Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, quoted the prime minister as saying.
